Dog emotional wellbeing
A dog's posture, movement, and energy can change with the setting, the time of day, who is nearby, and how the dog feels physically. The same signal can mean different things in different situations. A single video cannot establish a dog's emotional state.
Look for patterns, not one moment
If you are concerned about your dog's mental health, note what you see, when it happens, what happened just before, and whether the behavior is becoming more frequent or intense. The Merck Veterinary Manual recommends considering behavior patterns and context over time when assessing a concern.
When to speak with a veterinarian
A change in behavior can have a medical cause. If your dog's behavior changes suddenly or concerns you, contact your veterinarian. They can consider your dog's health and history alongside what you observed.
How Furryfur fits in
In the Furryfur Partners app, a partner records short videos before and after a walk. The resulting report shows observed behavior signals and interpretive scores. It can help you review what appeared in those clips, but it is not a diagnosis or treatment.
